About Us

Since 1835

Mount Olivet Baptist Church has stood for nearly two centuries—not just as a building, but as a testimony to God’s faithfulness through every season. Since 1835, we’ve weathered wars, droughts, pandemics, and cultural shifts, yet one thing has never changed: Jesus is Lord, and His love still changes lives.

We’re a small, diverse, Bible-believing church with a big heart. Rooted in truth, led by the Spirit, and devoted to stirring up love and good works, we exist to be a house of prayer for all people. You’ll find both heritage and hope here—old wooden pews and open arms.

We’re not just preserving a legacy. We’re living it. And we’d be honored for you to be part of the story God is still writing.

What We Believe

Firm in truth, gracIOUS IN DIFFERENCE

We believe that the Father created all things in heaven and on earth. He created human beings out of a love for us and desires a personal relationship with each of us.

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven.

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict men, making them aware of their sin and the salvation available through Jesus. He regenerates, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for godly living and service.

We believe that man was created in the image of God and sinless, but fell into sin and is therefore lost and subject to judgment. There is nothing man can do to save himself from this judgment, but he can accept the death of Jesus as punishment in place of his own eternal death by acknowledging God and accepting the free gift of salvation.

We believe that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ provides the only way of justification and salvation for all who believe. Any who attach additional works of man as a requirement for salvation are false in that they infer Jesus’ death is insufficient in and of itself to save and that human beings somehow have the capability to save themselves.

We believe the Bible, consisting of 66 books, to be the inspired Word of God, without error, the revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

Deacons

At Mount Olivet, our deacons are more than leaders—they’re servants. Just as Scripture teaches, they come alongside the church family with humility, wisdom, and love, helping to meet practical needs and support the spiritual growth of the body.

Each deacon is a man of integrity, chosen not for position but for the posture of his heart—willing to serve, quick to listen, and always pointing others to Christ. Whether it’s visiting the sick, praying with a family, or quietly helping behind the scenes, our deacons reflect the heart of Jesus in all they do.

“For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Timothy 3:13

We are grateful for their faithful service and the strength they bring to our church family.

Administrative

Behind the scenes at Mount Olivet, you’ll find a faithful team who keeps things running smoothly with grace, excellence, and a servant’s heart. Our administrative staff may not always be on the platform, but their work is a vital part of the ministry that happens every day.

From managing communications and scheduling to handling logistics, preparing materials, and supporting our pastors and ministries, they serve with quiet diligence and genuine love for the church family. Their heart isn’t just to keep things organized—it’s to help create space for people to encounter God without distraction.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…” — Colossians 3:23

We’re thankful for their dedication, and the way they help make Mount Olivet a place of welcome, order, and peace.
